It is a compressed paperboard stock, rigid enough to hold its shape on a shelf, smooth enough to carry detailed print, and capable of taking surface finishing that flexible or corrugated packaging cannot match.

Folding Cartons or Rigid Set-Up Boxes
The first decision in any chipboard packaging order is the box structure.
Folding cartons are printed, die-cut flat, and folded into shape before filling. They are the standard format for cosmetics, food, pharmaceuticals, and most retail products at production scale. Cost-efficient to produce and practical to transport flat before assembly.
Rigid set-up boxes are built from heavier board and do not fold flat. They open with a lift-off lid or hinged cover and are used for premium retail, luxury gifting, and product launches where the feel of the packaging matters as much as the print. They cost more per unit but position the product at a noticeably different level from the moment a customer picks it up.
